I have had a painful white patch on my tongue, off and on for about six months now. I have been to several doctors, including an ENT Specialist who took many blood tests. None of the doctors seem to recognize the patch as anything they have seen before. It was originally diagnosed as Thrush, which my adult daughter had at the same time, it was later thought not to be the same. I do have geographic tongue, (which I just learned through all of this--I didn't realize it was different from others :-) until the patch appeared) Have been on Nystatin and an antibacterial medicine, tried mouthwashes, etc. I also have a dental bridge which I had just started using prior to the patch, and a mouth guard to prevent grinding of teeth. Very painful, burning mouth. I am a 56 year old female.
