What Causes White Coating On Swollen Tongue When On B12 Injections?

I .have been on B12 injections for eight years. I am becoming concerned about the amount of aluminum that isgoing into my body. I have intrinsic factor and almost died from food poising eight years ago. I am also on Levothroxine for 15 years. I started getting this horrible thick white coating on my swollen tongue. I have tried everything to get it off. I'm 73 years old

Hello there,

Welcome to HCM,

Swelling in the tongue is seen due to many reasons like viral infections or bacterial infections. As you have mentioned about the medications you are undertaking, allergic reactions due to over dose of any medication can also lead to such symptoms please consult a physician and get the examination done.
White coating over the tongue is probabaly due to ORAL THRUSH.
Oral thrush also know as candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by a yeast called candida albicans which is commonly found on skin surfaces. It is caused due to prolonged use of antibiotics or corticosteroids.
exact diagnosis can be made only after clinical examination. please visit a physician and get the check up done.
i hope this helps,
take care.
