What Causes Weight Gain When Taking Paxil-CR And Wellbutrin?

I have suffered from anxiety for years. I have been prescribed Paxil cr and recently I ve been placed on wellbutrin also. I have gained a considerable amount of weight while on the paxil. Will wellbutrin be enough to control anxiety? And what s your opinion on homeopathic medication such as Anxietin?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Paroxetine is a SSRI drug and the drug is known to cause weight gain. If you have gained significant weight with this drug then other drugs can help you. Wellbutrin is Bupropion and the drug is also known to cause weight gain in some patients but that weight gain is not so significant. The drug would be sufficient to control the anxiety. Other drugs like Fluoxetine can also be used. Fluoxetine is known to cause very less weight gain and is also equally efficacious in controlling weight. If your symptoms persist then you can consult your doctor for that drug.

Regarding Anxietin the drug is a homeopathic drug for anxiety. It has not been supported by much research studies but in some individuals it has been found to be useful in controlling symptoms of anxiety. Continue to take your prescription medicines as advised.
