What Causes Weight Gain After Taking Cervical Epidural Injection?
I had a cevical epidural injection July 29, 2011. After recieving the injection I gain 20 pounds and after I eat my stomach gets bloated. My appetite has decreased. I walk an hour per day, I do aerobics 45 min. per day and I do custodial work 40 hours a week. I have always been a person that excercise daily. However, I can t fit my clothing. Could some of this weight be water and how long does it take to get back to normal ? After having one injections how long will steriods stay in a persons body.

Cervical epidural steroid injection is used to relieve chronic pain in case of various painful conditions for short term. It may cause abdominal pain or cramps, nausea or vomiting, abdominal bloating, indigestion, changes in appetite, weight gain by altering the body's electrolytes and water balances as well as its metabolism.
The drug is out of human system within a day but the side effects that have already developed like weight gain, may require a long period of time to reverse. Once the steroids are stopped and the weight generally comes off as the body readjusts. Within 6 months to a year, this may be happened.
