What Causes Vomiting And Diarrhea In A Child While On Cefaclor?

I was given cefaclorl on Wednesday for a bacterial influenza. Thursday 2 of my grandchildren were up all nite with vomiting and diarrhea. It lasted 12 hours. I was taking care of them. Saturday morning at 4am I began throwing up and diarrhea. The diarrhea lasted 2 full days and was uncontrollable ang green. I did not take any of normal medications for 2 days. I am wondering if I need to resume the cefaclor? Could it be what caused my diarrhea to be so much worse?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear. Sometimes antibiotics taken orally will cause diarrhoea. If it is very severe the child needs to be admitted in hospital and given IV fluids and IV antibiotics. Within couple of days your child will be fine.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
