What Causes Vision Disturbances While On Amlodipine For Hypertension?

Hi, I am currently takine 50mg of metoprolol twice a day, I am thinking of stopping it because of swelling of my feet and legs to a point of pain in my feet that keeps me awake at night. I am also taking amlodipine 10mg once daily. Both meds are for hypertension. During the winter tests confirmed a stroke, however did not realize when this happened other than having vision disturbances that lasted only a few minutes and not sure if this is related.

Brief Answer:
You should see a cardiologist.
You should have a strict controll of your blood pressure.

Hello,
Thank you for using HCM.
Metoprolol may cause blurred vision, while amlodipine swelling of the ankles or feet.
So if the vision disturbances continue till now than you should reduce the dosage of metoprolol guided by a cardiologist who may evaluate your heart rate and blood pressure values too.
Meanwhile, as you are suffering from severe swelling of your feet and legs, you should remove amlodipin and replace it with another antihypertensive drug.
Regarding stroke, yes, sudden loss or blurring of vision may happen during stroke event.
As more than half of all strokes are caused by uncontrolled hypertension or high blood pressure, it is really important to have it under control.
