Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

It might be safer to repeat vaginal ultrasound and if there is no thickness of the endometrium (inner layer of the uterus) than vaginal atrophy can be the cause of the spotting you are having.
Vaginal atrophy happens with menopause due to lack of estrogen and some women may experience vaginal spotting but not pure bleeding.
In this case local vaginal estrogen is helpful to reduce the symptoms and help with vaginal atrophy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
