What Causes Vaginal Spotting After Intercourse?

Hi. Last night, I ha protected sex. When it was over, my partner went to the bathroom and when he came out he asked me if I was ok because I bled alot. It was not my first time having sex and I was not in any pain. There was no blood on the sheets. When I went to the bathroom I urinated. No pain, no blood in my urine. But when I wiped , there were faint traces of blood on the paper. I went back to the bedroom and my partner as if I was sure that I was ok because there were chunks of blood. What could have caused this?

Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. I have gone through your query and I would like to offer some suggestions. If you had a rough intercourse, trauma is the likely cause for the spotting. Else, infections of the cervix and vagina, erosion of the cervix, polyps of the cervix and the endometrium can be the cause of this post coital bleeding. I would therefore, ask you to have a complete clinical examination, a pap smear, swabs from the cervix and vagina and urinalysis. Please abstain until you are healed well. Further management can be planned after the results. Hope you find this information helpful. Take care.
