What Causes Vaginal Opening Swelling With Long And Steady Menstruation?
My main concern tonight is that for two days now my vaginal opening has been swollen completely shut and I have been unable to seek out medical help because it is the weekend. I am very concerned. I have been menstruating for 17 days now. No pain associated with it but it has been a steady -moderate flow, I know that sometimes this can happen when adjusting to hormones but I am 19 years old and have had my menses since I was 14. I am perfectly healthy with absolutely no other issues other than the occasional yeast infection. About 3 months ago I had bacterial vaginosis but took a round of antibiotics and have felt nothing since then in that regard. I am concerned that it could be a more serious infection. I am a premedicine student and the only thing I can think of that could cause these sypmtoms would be an STD or Fibroid of some sort and possibly PID? I know its not an STD because I had a bad breakup almost 40 days ago and have not had sex since. I am not sure if I should try to get in to see my PCP urgently or if I am simply overreacting. I should add that I am on birth control and have been for at least 3 years. I have not missed any days taking the pill.
