General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. You are using depo provera for 4 years, have off & on bleeding since 2 months with pressure in lower abdomen. Depo provera is a long acting reversible hormonal contraceptive,& is known to have irregular bleeding ( profuse/scanty), lac of menses. * If you have profuse bleeding with clots for more than 15 days at a stretch, you should consult your treating gynecologist for physical examination& certain investigations to exclude/ confirm other causes of bleeding- which needs specific treatment. * the burning with lower abdominal pressure you have suggests associated urinary infection ( involving bladder)- Routine urine examination would help for diagnosis- followed by treatment to control the infection. Thanks.
