What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Intercourse?

Recently i was spotting then it became heavy which was my period then i went back to spotting again. I continued to spot for about a month and each time my husband and i had sex i would bleed more. I wemt to my gyn for a pap smear and that bleeding problem and he told me my right ovary was swollen about 3-5 cm. He sent me for blood work and gave me Megestrol to stop the bleeding. All my tests came back fine. And after take mesgestrol for a about 2 days i stopped bleeding. But i had to continue taking it. Well, my husband and i decided to have a baby so he came inside me about 2 days ago. I took my last megestrol pill yesturday morning and decided to stop because of wanting to get pregnant. Could i be pregnant? Or what are my chances of being pregnant?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Megestrol is a synthetic prepaaration of progestreone hormone which does not stop you from being pregnant. So your chances of being pregnant are as good as any normal fertile female as your doctor diagnosed that you do not have any anomaly in your reproductive tract. An average normal female has 25 to 30 percent chances of conceiving each month in 20s which decreases to 15 percent at 30 and 10 percent at 35.

Sometimes, one intercourse is enough to conceive while sometimes it may take time. You cannot really say when it will happen. So you may need to try little longer than just one. You can use ovulation strips available over the counter to find days when you are ovulating and have intercourse during those days as those days have higher chances of making you pregnant.

If you do not get results after 6 months, you and your husband can go for fertility tests and proceed further.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic for your concern. Good Luck!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
