What Causes Unusual Burning Sensation In Skull Despite Taking Ibuprofen And Tylenol?

I ve been sporadically getting a strange sensation in my head. It s difficult to pinpoint the exact location, sort of all over my skull. It s not necessarily painful, just extremely annoying and kind of worrisome. The best word to explain it is burning....some times it will be a quick fleeting sensation...on trail occasions, both at night, it s consistent. I also had the absolute worst headache of my life today, that no amount of ibuprofen or Tylenol would take away.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to occipital neuralgia.
Occipital neuralgia can cause intense pain that feels like a sharp pain in the scull.
Based on the fact that the otc painkillers don't work,I suggest to see a neurologist and get evaluated.
You might need prescription painkillers.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
