Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tinnitus While Suffering From Herniated Discs In The Neck?
I have developed horrible ringing and buzzing in my ears. I do have herniated discs in my neck, but, I am taking 325 mg of aspirin daily for almost a year. I had a mile stroke last November and was put on this dosage of aspirin along with Enalapril. The noise is getting worse and constant and it started about 4 months ago. I m trying to figure out what is or might really be causing this.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I would explain that the tinnitus is not related to the bulging disc in the neck. It could be related to an inner ear disorder, thyroid gland dysfunction, or low blood perfusion to the brain. Coming to this point, I would recommend consulting first with an ENT specialist and exclude a possible inner ear disorder. I would also recommend checking your thyroid hormone levels and performing a brain angio MRI.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Iliri
