Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness In The Toe?
I am 44 years old, African American woman, I am in excellent health no high blood pressures, or medical condition other than sinus/allergies. I don t take medication for anything. I take care of my body. Lately in the past 2 weeks I have experienced tingling and numbness in my second toe on my right foot. It this a cause for concern.
Neuropathy may also be caused not just by diabetes but also other metabolic causes may be present or injury of spine. It is presented with burning pain without skin changes. Last, ischemic changes happen due to poor circulation in legs.
So, you need to check your blood sugar first and then focus on your neurologic examination and nerve conduction tests. This will reveal most common causes of your symptoms. Additionally, you should do Doppler ultrasound of the leg or CT angiography to check leg circulation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
