What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness In The Arms?

I had an acoustic neuroma removed via translab approach Oct. 2015. I then had a BAHA implant put in Feb. 2016. For about a year after the implant, I would wake up with tingling/numbness in the arm of the side I was sleeping on, but it would stop in just a few seconds when I got off the arm. Now for the past 3-4 months, it has progressed where the arm/hand are affected more often (even during the day at times) and it takes longer for the arm/hand to wake up, often with a lot of pain. My legs don t hurt, but I have bouts of edema in them as well.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi i do care for your concern.
The acoustic neuroma affects the eighth cranial nerve.
But that has no relation to your pain in the arm.
BAHA implant also has no relation to it.
You have not mentioned your age.
usually nerve compression at the neck region will cause pain in the arm, i would suggest to consult ortho doctor and get x-ray done for the same.
elevation of limbs at night with pillow will control the swelling, but if present for more than 6 months then evaluation is needed.
Hope i have answered your question, If you have more feel free to ask.
Thank you.
I find this answer helpful
