What Causes Throat Pain Along With Difficulty In Swallowing?

Hi,
I was suffering from typhoid15-20 days back.Now all is fine. But from last 3-4 days,i have pain in my throat and i am feeling difficulty in swallowing. When i swallow my ear also pains. I consulted doctor and he gave me Cefpodoxime 200mg tablets. But no affects. The pain is still there.

Please assist.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of throat pain along with difficulty in swallowing. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to viral infection or viral pharyngitis and traveling of infection through sinuses. You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, mucolytics like Ambroxol. Gargle with a numbing mouthwash to ease the pain especially before meals. You can also do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day.Avoid spicy and chilled foods.Take more of fluids and a semisolid diet. If condition doesn't get better then consult ENT specialist for proper examination and treatment .
