What Causes The Thyroid To Look Lumpy And Grey?
Yes . My niece who is 8 years old is going through tests to identify what caused her thyroid to look like a lumpy, grey, mess. The ultrasound found no nodules. She has no Lyme. Rheumatoid arthritis, etc. the thryoid peroxidase antibody is over 135. The blood work did find Anh or ana? Possibly indicating lupus? Next steps are visiting an endricinologist but is there something specific she should be looking for? She is only 8 isn't she young for this?

This could be due to auto immune thyroiditis - Hashimotos thyroiditis. There need not be lupus associated with this condition. How is her thyroid function reports? Please let us know to tell about the treatment if needed.
