What Causes The Resting Heart Rate To Rise While Sleeping?

Hi. My resting heart rate at night typically starts at mid 40s, but during the night and by morning increases to mid 50s - I wear a HR fitness band for past 2 yrs and this seems much more recent occurrence. Im pretty lean, healthy, fit and exercise most days but not to vigorously Any reason for this?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

Rise in heart rate especially at night is mostly associated with bad dreams. So you might be having bad dreams which is causing slightly elevated heart rate.

But better to get done ECG and 2D echo to rule out heart diseases.
If these two are normal then no need to worry much.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar,
