Hello Minas,

I understand your concern for your wife. Your wife's serum calcium is in the low normal range. If for some reason she hyperventilates ( breathes fast), the ionized calcium would drop and she would get a tetany. Next time she gets it try breathing in and out of a paper bag. It might decrease the severity. She should get her vitamin D and PTH ( Parathormone) levels checked as the deficiency of these can lead to tetany. If these are low she would require treatment.
If you have further queries, I am available.
