Hi, I am 27 and have been experiencing very tender breasts for the last week. Also yesterday I started having a dull, cramp like pain in what feels like the right side of my pelvis. It's more noticeable during intercourse and also when I go to the toilet. I haven't had a period in about 18 months as am taking the mini pill (Norgestron). I took a pregnancy test a few days ago and it was negative but all the symptoms seem to suggest it could be pregnancy. What do you think it is?
You are on mini pill for 18 months regularly. So there is hardly any chance for you to become pregnant while on these pills. Heaviness and tenderness in your breasts is most likely due to the effect of the pill which contains progesterone. Progesterone is known to cause engorgement and tenderness in the breasts due to water retension. If it is bothering too much, you may curtail salt intake to get some relief. If it does not help, try with some mild pain killers with the advice of a doctor. Still if it is of no use, you may have to change the brand and/or composition of your pill. The pain in the pelvic area, particularly during toilet could be due to: 1. Urinary infection which can happen during progesterone due to the relaxation of kidney pelvis. Urine examination will tell you the diagnosis. 2. Amoebiasis can give such pain. If yours stools are sticky, it is likely to be amoebiasis. Get your stools examined to confirm. Accordingly your doctor will prescribe you medication.
