What Causes Swollen Taste Buds And Metallic Taste In Mouth?
I was recently at the ER to have me checked out cause I had strep throat I went there cause the back of my tongue was a dark purple color and they said its from the bitter taste buds that it is normal, now my taste buds are swollen, and I have a metallic taste in my mouth im on Bactrim DS could that cause that?
HI. The metallic taste is typically a subjective phenomenon. The strep Throat is a lab diagnosis. The infection of any sort can have a direct effect on the taste buds Which are governed by Sensory system also as this is a part of the oral cavity. The Purple color at the back of the tongue indicate that there is an infection. Take a course of an antibiotic and may resolve. Bactrin DS is not known to cause such taste.
