What Causes Swollen Lymph Node In The Right Arm Pit?
I have a swollen lymph node in my right arm pit; it was here about five weeks ago, went "down" but no completely away and is back. When small, it doesn't hurt but when large it hurts and is red. It seems to radiate down the rest of my armpit. I saw my doctor and I'm on an antibiotic for two weeks, no shaving for two weeks, and see a surgeon in two weeks. What is the likelihood it is cancer and if it's something else (i.e. just an infection) how does it happen and how can I prevent it in the future?
Hi. It is first important to know whether this is a lymph node or an infected sebaceous cyst. If this is deep seated and not attached to the skin it is most probably a lymph node. I attached to the skin - it is most probably an infected sebaceous cyst. In both the conditions the treatment is almost going to same.
Cancer nodes usually do not get red and do not reduce anytime, this is unlikely to be a cancer. Local hygiene, local application of povidone iodine solution long antibiotic course may help you et a cure. In suspected lymph node it is better to undergo an FNAC examination .
