Is Growth Of A Extra Bone In The Skull A Tumor?

I have a lump on the back of my skull. I had an xray today and it looks like its another bone growing out of the skull. Is this a bone tumor? Or is it possible that is a sebaceous cyst ( I had a couple of pimples that have turned to sebaceous cysts in the past)?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an osteoma or other benign (non cancerous) lump. Cancerous tumor is unlikely. Consult a neurosurgeon and get evaluated. You might require a CT scan also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
