Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Saddiq ul Abidin. I have read your question completely, I understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

The history of fever, along with a swelling of this size and unilateral is suggestive of lymphedenopathy. It would have been more helpful, if we had a proper history and systemic inquiry, regarding any signs and symptoms of upper respiratory tract, tonsils or any boil in head and neck or in oral cavity. It can even arise without any of these symptoms. Some chronic infections do sit in lypmh nodes like TB lympehdinits or infectious mononucleosis, but it would be very premature to comment about any such thing.

It would have needed a detailed ENT examination, along with a complete blood picture along with ESR and CRP. Also an ultrasound of neck at the affected side, and of swelling, along with thyroid profile would have been lead to include or exclude many diseases. Also the nature of swelling whether cystic or solid would give lot many clues.

Ideally such swellings need to be biopsied for histopathology and cultures. That would have been lead to narrowing down to few.

In any case, i will recommend you to visit an infectious disease specialist and get a detailed evaluation done.

I hope this answered your question. If you have more queries I am happy to answer. Otherwise rate before closing the discussion

Regrads.
