What Causes Swelling In Throat Along With Difficulty Swallowing?

My throat is so swollen. I cannot swallow my siliva whatsoever, it is so painful when I try to that I start crying. It hurts so much and I keep coughing. My doctor put me on some antibiotics today but they haven t kicked in yet. I ve been having throat lollies to try and help but they aren t working. I tried gargling warm salty water and it s not doing anything. I need help as my throat hurts so much.

As per your complain severe pain in throat along with swelling seems to be probably due to throat infection that can be Bacterial or Viral in nature leading to severe Inflammation and pain..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now continue taking antibiotics and along with it start taking anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
Continue doing warm saline gargles..
Suck throat lozenges and chew Vitamin C pellet..
Drink plenty of warm water..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
