What Causes Swelling In The Gums?

I have swollen gums, they are really red and I dread brushing my teeth now, my tongue also has those white/red ulcers all over it, and the tongue itself is white. The roof of my mouth hurts like hell... and talking is just a pain. I've looked it up and is it a vitamin C defiancy?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swollen gums and ulcers in mouth seems like Gingivostomatitis and can occur due to a number of causes like Viral herpes infection, deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, stress, allergies, hormonal imbalances etc..
The white coating over tongue seems to be due to yeast infection known as Oral thrush.
You need to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and in case of viral infection antiviral medication like oral and topical acyclovir, valacyclovir can help..
In case if it is apthous stomatits gargling with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine, taking multivitamin supplements, doing warm saline gargles and avoiding spicy food can help..
For oral thrush antifungal mouthwash like Nystatin mouthwash, anti-fungal lozenges and taking plenty of probiotics like Yoghurt and garlic can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
