Hello.... I had an HSG done today. I had an ectopic pregnancy last month. I had the MTX shot April 1. hCG declined over 4 weeks to a 2 & I got my period a week later. I am 38, I have a 3.5 year old son delivered via c-section. I had my left ovary removed in 2008 due to a dermoid cyst. Test today showed a swollen right Fallopian tube & cysts on right ovary. Course of action us to look at the cysts again after my next period. My question is what can cause my tube to be swollen & what am I up against with it?
As per your history, ectopic pregnancy happens mostly due to some kind of pelvic infection- infection in the genital tract. This can lead to swelling of the tubes and ovaries and uterus.
I usually suggest ten days course of broad spectrum antibiotics like Doxycycline twice a day. Also, getting laparoscopy and hysteroscopy done at expert hands to assess the normalcy of uterine cavity and Fallopian tubes and ovaries and entire pelvic cavity, will be of help.
Before going ahead with next pregnancy, it will be better to have this assessment done to prevent future complications related to pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
