What Causes Sudden Weight Gain With Normal Food Habits?

HI I have lost a lot of weight since becoming a vegan. Over the past couple of years I stopped eating rice, bread, all dairy products, and no sweets of any kind except fruit. The only thing I drink is water. I went all the down to 158 pounds. I am 5 ft 7 inches. But I find myself gaining weight now I am up to 170 pounds. I exercise as I normally have. The only thing is I have started to eat lots of nuts and sometimes I eat flat bread, bread that is made out of just flour and water. Is this the reason why I am gaining weight? Everyone says I still look so skinny and I really do look the same as I did at 158 pounds but still I am afraid of gaining more weight. Why have I gained weight and should I stop eating bread and nuts?

It is good to know about your concern of weight management. You are on a low carbohydrate diet due to which it was possible to control it. But sudden weight gain without any changes in diet or life style is a cause for concern. Get thyroid profile done and if any abnormalities detected be treated accordingly. Taking nuts and bread as told by you is normal. See to it for following factors
1. Check your overall diet if it contains high calories. Avoid high calories diet.
2. Increase your workout.
3. Swimming is very helpful to maintain weight.
4. Take low carbohydrate, low fat and high protein diet.
5. Get thyroid profile and lipid profile done. Should try to maintain in normal range.
Watch out for three months and contact again for the future course of action.
One more thing, there are some Ayurvedic medicine for it also which I prescribe in my clinic. These are very much safe and tried with many patients with out any side effects.
