Hello,
There can be several causes for such an incident to happen. Firstly, hypertension in pregnancy with its associated utero-placental insufficiency can be the cause of such sudden fetal demise. Secondly, accidents like tightening of cord around the neck , placental abruption, maternal trauma are another leading cause. Lastly, infections, associated maternal complications like renal disease, diabetes, chronic hypertension etc., can also lead to such a situation. Hope this helps.
