What Causes Stomach Pain And Hard And Bloated Stomach In Children?

Hi, My sister has a 4 year old little girl that has been having some trouble with severe constipation and is still on the medication they gave her for it and she started complaining about her stomach hurting her and her stomach is so swelled that her belly button is popped out and feels hard as a rock. I wouldn t think it would still be constipation with her still on the medication they gave her! Thanks.

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

By what you say I feel that your kid is having habitual constipation.

Suggestions:
1. Natural methods are the best to relieve constipation.
2. Maximum milk consumption per day should not exceed 300-400 ml.
3. Minimum 3-4 cups of fruits and vegetables to be consumed per day
4. Toilet training - that is - sitting in an Indian type of lavatory daily at the same time will help a lot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sumanth Amperayani,
