What Causes Stabbing Pain In Head?

my husband complains of sudden onset of stabbing pain in head. It lasts for a period of approx. 30 sec. and than dissapears This has happened twice in a 24 hr. period; He has alziemers diagnosed approx. 5 years ago but had never complained of headaches or any discomfort and seems to be healthy except for periodic high blood pressure which is controlled by pills. What may be the cause?

Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have made the following clinical explanation-
In the setting of hypertension,stabbing pains lasting for few seconds can be a manifestation of high blood pressure.I would like to advise you to be doubly sure and get your blood pressure checked.Alternatively,anxiety is a common cause of such type of head pains.Please do some mental relaxation exercises/Yoga/Pranayama and see if the symptoms recur.If the symptoms still keep occurring,then it needs to be investigated by a physician.Alzheimer's disease is not the cause of headache here.I hope it helps.
