What Causes Spotting, Dripping And Bleeding After Mirena Insertion In An Abortion?

I got an abortion about 3 weeks ago and got the mirena inserted while the procedure, I was spotting and occasionally bleeding for abit after it but now I can't even walk without blood dripping down my legs, I go to the toilet and blood is just everywhere with huge blood clots, how long will this happen for? And why is this happening?

Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,

Bleeding is common after a abortion but if you are having continuous and heavy bleeding now three weeks later than it is necessary that you get evaluated by a Gynecologist immediately.

An ultrasound pelvis, blood counts is necessary to know if any blood clots remaining in uterus and if any infection is present.

Though bleeding/spotting after Mirena insertion is common in your case it is unlikely due to it.

Hope this helps,
Regards.
