What Causes Spotting After Periods?

Please help!! I need a gynocologist to answer?? I m 21 and for the most part healthy. I ve been experiencing spotting since October 29th . My period ended on October 24th . I didn t get my period the whole month of november(I have a history of irregular periods) I did two birth control tests at the Drs office both were negative they suggested a gonnorhea and chlamadyia test, they were negative. I got my period dec. 18-22nd. I thought the spotting was just a light period(although ive been spotting mostly every day) so today I wiped my myself and seen blood on the napkin its a red color not orange or anything I m just really nervous and I don t have medical insurance and gynocologist cost so much please help me??

Hallow dear,

What I have understood from your history is that you missed a period for the month of November and then the December period you got was with very very sparse bleeding. Your pregnancy tests were negative.

I would suggest you to get ultrasonography test done initially to rule out any sort of pregnancy. This test is more reliable. It will help to identify pregnancy somewhere else outside the uterus (ectopic pregnancy) wherein you get very weak positive urine pregnancy test, which could be misread as negative.

Otherwise, this seems to be a case of hormonal imbalance. It will be better for you to get the levels of hormones Oestrogen, Progesterone, FSH, LH & Prolactin done to reveal the underlying cause.

Till that you may take birth control pills, daily one for 5 days and discontinue. Please do not take progesterone only or Progesterone dominant or Low Oestrogen pills. Take Oestrogen+Progesterone balanced or low Progesterone pills. After discontinuing the pills, within 4-8 days you should get normal period. If by this also you get only spotting, you will have to undergo investigations.

Apart from hormonal disturbances, trauma inside the uterine cavity, some infections, particularly tuberculosis of the uterus can cause such low bleeding. Did you ever undergo curetting of the uterine cavity? Too enthusiastic curetting may scrape the lining of the uterus completely to cause low bleeding.

You need to communicate to me with some reports and information more number of times. You may ask me direct question. I will try to get you some remedy after clinching the diagnosis.

Till that, please follow this advice.
