What Causes Soreness In The Throat?

I have choked on my own saliva quite a few times now. It seems to last for about 3 minutes, and I am gasping for breath, this has been happening for quite a few years. I have been to the dr about it, and he fobbed it off. I actually happened last night which is very frightening, my throat is just so sore today. I spoke about it at work today and someone said it used to happen to their mother and it had to do with thiroid. is this possible?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

The symptoms described by you seems to be of Laryngopharyngeal Reflux secondary to Acid reflux. I doubt thyroid related issues. Best, is to get your larynx examined by your doctor.

Avoid coffee/tea, smoking and alcohol (if any). Drink plenty of water.

Regards
