What Causes Soreness And Cracks At The Corners Of Mouth?

I am a 20-year old female and recently the corners of my mouth started getting sore and they feel cracked when I first wake up. I pick at them (I know I m not supposed to but I do anyways) and now they re red. I ve tried put mouthwash on it and doesn t help too much. Yes I m sexually active but we ve both been tested for STD s and we re both clear. I ve heard it might be a fungal infection but I m not sure. My boyfriend says he gets them when he s sick, but I don t know if it s due to any vitamin deficiency or anything. Please let me know!! It s driving me crazy. Thank you :)

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. Cracked corners of the mouth can be seen with malnutrition and deficiency of vitamins, especially of the B complex group. Since you got other causes excluded, you can use vitamin supplements along with use of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Use lubricants like cold cream to help healing and relieve uneasiness. Hope this helps.
