What Causes Sore Throat With Headaches?

Hi, my husband got what seem to be an ordinary cold approximately 2weeks ago! It started with sore throat, headache, fever, chills and night sweats! Tylenol took the fever right away! No more chills or fever, but he is now saying that his throat feels like it s closing up and he is still having headaches! Any ideas of what this is? I was thinking allergies but I m not certain!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms of your husband can be related to an allergic reaction.
The feeling that the throat is closing up is normal during an allergy.
I suggest to try using an antihistamine such as Benadryl.
If he has breathing difficulties you should go at the emergency room.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
