What Causes Sore Throat, Ears And Headache For Days?

Hi, I've had a sore, swollen throat, sore ears and a headache for the past eight days. Paracetamol, Dequacaine and lots of fluids have been main treatment. No noticeable improvement in this period. How do you know if this is a viral or bacterial infection? Should I be doing something different to treat this infection?

Hi welcome to HCM...

As in sore throat we always want to rule out streptococcal pharyngitis infection as it can lead serious cimoication in sequeal...

Investigate with aso titre and CBC ...
If aso titre high than streptococcal infection there ....

Here as your symptom not improving empirical antibiotic started like cefixime 200 mg BD for five days. ...

Meanwhile take decongestent for few days like phenylephrine or Chlorpheniramine.

More water. ..

Avoid excess spicy foods. ...

Fried food less. ...

Steam inhalation two times a day with added eucalyptus oil in water ...

Hot water used for drinking...

Turmeric powder added in hot milk and taken daily ....

Take care

If still no improvement than throat swab taken....

Advise : physician consultation for examination...
