What Causes Sore Throat, Body Aches And Swollen Tonsils?

I am a 32 year old Male. I have a sore throat, body aches, skin tenderness, and swollen tonsils. There are a dozen red pin prick sized dots on the top of my mouth back by my uvula. Could this be strep? it doesn't look like strep, there aren't any white patches. Symptoms began 20 hours ago. treating with 800 mg ibuprofen every 5 hours. Helps with swelling but still difficult to swallow.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sore throat, body aches and swollen tonsils which is due to viral infection leading to inflamed tonsils known as Tonsillitis. It could be possible that there is secondary bacterial infection. Need not tow worry. You should take antibiotics like Levofloxacin or Azithromycin for 3- 5 days. You should take Ibuprofen or Naproxen to relieve pain and inflammation of tonsils. You can gargle with a numbing mouthwash for relief of pain. Do warm saline gargles 3- 4 times a day. use mist humidifiers in room. Chew a Vitamin C pellet daily. You should give rest to your throat speak less. Go for steam inhalation. visit ENT specialist once and get it thoroughly examined. Start treatment after proper diagnosis along with this go for lab tests such as blood and swab test.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
