What Causes Smaller Growth Of Baby During Pregnancy?

hi i m 29 weeks pregnant and my baby's growth is smaller than it should be, doctor asked me to have loads of protein food specially meat. Is it good to have pistachios for additional protein at this stage? And what can be the reason for smaller growth? my u/s report is very normal though.

Hello,
Yes you should take proteins . You can take pistachios . You should rest and also take protein milk supplements in addition to the high protein diet .You should also take folic acid . The smaller growth can be caused due to a constitutionally small baby in which there is nothing to worry . As in your case the ultrasound report is normal so in all likeliness this is a constitutionally small baby . In some cases the ultrasound report is abnormal and indicates IUGR. If there is IUGR then an ultrasound doppler is needed .
Thank you
