I recently saw my family doctor for a check up due to my brother being diagnosed with a fib. During my EKG it showed an abnormality. My doctor said it appears to be a AV block and referred me to a cardiologist which I see in a few weeks. My symptoms I have been experiencing lately are when I am sitting or laying down (mostly laying down) my heart will beat normally then pause for a beat. Today I also noticed when climbing stairs my heart rate increased significantly with mild shortness of breath. I wanted to know if this is common with an AV block? I am a 20 year old college athlete that works out and runs frequently. Could this also be anxiety related? As I have been feeling extremely worried about what my diagnosis will be.
