What Causes Severe Pain In The Tooth During Pregnancy?

Hi Doctor,

I am having a severe toothache. It has been effected badly. I am not able to eat anything. Its hurting badly when am chewing. I went to dentist he suggested me to remove the effected tooth. But I am 20 weeks pregnant. I am not able to take proper food for my baby. My gynacologist suggested me it is safe to remove the tooth till 6th month and she gave dolo 650 medicine meanwhile to get rid of the pain temporarily. Please suggest me what can I do in this situation? Can I extract my tooth or I can make my tooth be cleaned and get capped?

Thank You....

Hello
Welcome to HCM
I understand your concern. As you are having severe pain,it depends on the decision of the dentist to remove the tooth or do capping for the tooth.
You can go any of the options. Both are safe in pregnancy. It will not have any harmful effects on the baby.
Dentist will inject local anaesthetic before tooth extraction or capping. You will not feel pain.
Hope you are happy with the answer.
Thank you
