Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My feet are burning with sharp pains and I have a rash mid calf to below my ankles. I have arthritis in my feel and they are numb a lot but not painful This condition is painful. I have tried heat/ice and have taken Aleve 200 mg. for twelve hours but the pain continues. I thought the rash might be an allergic reaction to MSG as had Thai food yesterday for lunch. I have taken 2 Benedryl with no relief. I also have Type 2 diabetes that I manage without medication. I didn t sleep from the pain and I m uncomfortable. What do you suggest for relief until I can see my primary care doctor?
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can. Well, diabetic feet is the first thing to think of. This may be a beginning of leg cellulitis which is inflammation of subcutaneous tissues and may develop into diabetic foot so any swelling, redness or pain in legs in someone who has dshould be evaluated by medical professionals since antibiotics may have to be started as soon as possible to prevent spreading of infection.
You should do at least basic blood tests and blood sugar to see if there is significant infection or not. Other causes include deep vein thrombosis or lymoh edema and these should be checked with an ultrasound exam. I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
