hi , we recently moved to canada in winnipeg like last may and in winters first time it happening with me . having unbearable itching in right ear specially. i tried to add mustered oil in ear and it helped me alot but for couple of days only. so i am doing this after every 15-20 days but not getting proper relief.. some times hard itching leave me with light pain ..please advice..i always keep my ear clean
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I have read your description and understand your concern. Itching and pain in the ear during winter season could be caused generally due to infection by fungus in the external auditory canal. Please do not use other forms of oils like mustered oil, as it may damage tympanic membrane and lead to middle ear infection. You can use medicated ear drops containing anaesthetic, antifungal and antibacterial agents like Benzocaine, Clotrimazole and Ofloxacin preparations. Keep the ear dry and clean.
