What Causes Severe Itching And Drainage From Skin Fungus Despite Applying Ketoconazole?

I was diagnosed with a skin fungus on Monday, since then I have five more rashes different parts of my body. I was given the anti fungal cream ketoconazole cream 2% and have also been using hydrocortisone 2% to help with the itching. They are looking worse than before. Sometimes they a leaking. I m very uncomfortable because of how they are situated on my body. Should I go back to the dr or is this the process of healing?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible to have both a fungal and bacterial infection. The bacteria can be introduced under the skin during itching.
This would cause the leaking.

This means that you would need a topical or oral antibiotic to help with the bacterial infection.

Fungal infection can take 2 to 3 weeks to respond to treatment but if it is spreading then you may need an oral antifungal.

I hope this helps
