What Causes Severe Hot Flashes?

I am 66 year oled female who has been in menopause for 17 years. I have never has hot flashes. I am on Synthriod for a underactive thyroid. Suddenly I keep breaking out from my head with sweats. Is it my thyroid or menopause? YYYY@YYYY

I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, your current symptoms are more likely due to thyroid.
Menopausal symptoms are highest between 50-55 age. After 55 years of age, Menopausal symptoms start regressing. So at the age of 67, Menopausal symptoms are unlikely.
So possibility of thyroid hormone related symptoms is more likely.
So get done fresh thyroid function test (TSH, free T3 and T4).
Don't worry, you will be alright.
