What Causes Severe Hip Pain While Walking Post Trauma?

I have a question regarding a fall/hip injury that happened about 4 hours ago. My wife was walking backward in the parking lot (asphalt) and tripped on a parking bumper. She turned around and fell face-down on the surface of the parking lot. Her right arm and right hip hurt. She has no pain while sitting or lying down and seems to have normal range of motion in the hip. However she has pain when trying to walk/put weight on the right hip. The pain seems to be from the gluteus maximus in the rear and the inner the inner thigh in the front. She is not sure if she should go to the emergency room tonight of if it would be OK to wait until the morning to go to see a doctor.

Hi thanks for asking question.

According to hiaory she has full range of movement and no swelling over that hip area.

So here fracture is less likely.

Mostly it will be muscular strain by fall down. For that rest is done with simple analgesic taken.

If pain increasing then ligament injury also has to be rule out.

It is better to do hip x tray ...

Mostly within few days you will recover.

Take care.
