What Causes Severe Heartburn And Dizziness While Exercising Regularly?

I am a 45 year old female generally in good health. I am slightly overweight but have been exercising regularly for the last 4 months and eating low fat and healthy. I am very active but have a lot of stress in my life. 1 week ago i had terrible heartburn. It went away, then 4 days ago I got very dizzy and almost fainted for no apparent reason. I feel very tired and have no energy. Exercising (Running) is a challenge. My blood pressure has gone up for no apparent reason - 150/99. It s never been like this before. Should I be going to the hospital or should I just wait for my Doctor s appointment next week.

Hi looks like you are overdoing your diet or exercise. Do not skip meals or starve yourself. Concentrate on having a balanced diet. Your only target must be to burn a little more than you eat. You must have gotten dizzy because of low blood sugar. Exercise itself will not cause you to develop heart burn. My advice to you would be.
1. Eat at regular intervals- small meals every two to three days. Have your dinner early. Do not lie down immediately after a meal. Avoid spicy food.

2. Exercise at least 2 hours after your meal. To enhance weight loss you can workout first thing in the morning if it is possible for you. Though you can workout at anytime.

3. At the end of your workout make sure you practice some relaxation and deep breathing exercises. This will help calm your nerves.

4.A single high BP recording is not significant. But it's important to get serial BP readings to check if it was only a chance event or if you really have hypertension. Get your BP checked once every alternate day for upto three recordings and see your doctor with a chart.

I hope this helps you. Take care :)
