What Causes Severe Fatigue Despite Normal Thyroid Functioning?

My daughter has a thyroid nodule that is half fluid, half solid. Thyroid scan was done with normal uptake. Thyroid blood tests were normal. An ultrasound was also done. Can her extreme tiredness be due to this nodule even though the thyroid blood tests were normal?

Hello,

First thyroid realted problems occur only when the hormone level goes high or low. Solitary nodule of the thyroid is a common clinical problem in an OPD. The first thing is, how old your daughter is? When thyroid hormone levels are normal, you must look at other causes for it. Sometimes if the thyroid blood test is done to date is older, she might have increased or decreased hormones now at present. If it's done long back, then repeat the test. Secondly, rule out other nutritional causes for tiredness. It may be a vitamin deficiency or micronutrient deficiency.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
