What Causes Severe Cramps In Pregnancy?

I m about 15 weeks pregnant, and about 3 weeks ago I started bleeding bright red blood, but it stopped so I never got checked out, now I m having severe cramps everyday, but dont want to go to an ER and waste my time and the doctors time if nothing is wrong. This will be my second pregnancy and i never experienced anything like this with my first. Should I go get checked out or is this normal?
