What Causes Self Harming And Suicidal Thoughts?
i have suffered from depression since i was a child, i was also told i was hyper active, i was recently taken into custody under the mental health act and the doctor i saw suggested i have bipolar dissorder, i have taken a self test and scored 35 which states i could have either bipolar 1 or 2 i am currently taking 150mg setraline and 15mg metazapine which dont make me feel any better, i have also self harmed since i was 7yrs and have attempted suicide several times could you tell me if this could deffinatly be bipolar dissorder thank you Gayle

Detailed symptom and clinical picture is required to ascertain diagnosis of bipolar disorder. You are having symptoms of depression and hyperactivity. There is history of self harm multiple times. Bipolar disorders are the disorders of mood which are characterised by mood symptoms of mania or mania and depression. The disorder runs in episodic manner and have chronic course. You are on Sertraline 150 mg and Mirtazepine 15 mg which are anti-depressant drugs and are commonly used in unipolar depression.
Other possibility in your case might be some personality disorder and most likely Border Line Personality Disorder. Multiple self harms episodes are mainly found in this disorder.
Continue to take your medications and visit your psychiatrist regularly.
